A youth theatre adaptation of an opera by Maurice Ravel, based on a libretto by Colette. Theatre, piano and dance: the three ingredients of this original, wildly exuberant project. The message carried by this work is universal and can be summed up as follows: a little boy learning tenderness, kindness and compassion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A tender, musical comedy for four hearts.Damino is a screenwriter. He is what you would call \u201cneurodivergent\u201d. At 40, he still has his childhood imaginary friend, Dadou. Damino has endowed Dadou with every good quality. He has made him an idealized version of himself.Shyness often also gives rise to an imaginary friend. That\u2019s the case for the play\u2019s second \u201creal\u201d character, Tito, an architect living in the building opposite. Her imaginary friend, Titou, gives her a semblance of a social life\u2014something her shyness prevents her from having. She spends her days painting at an easel, or at her desk, drawing up plans.The musical presence, through a guitarist, provides a counterpoint to the plot. Why do the obvious truths sometimes take so long to assert themselves? Sharing the stage is one of them for Damien and Renan Luce. As children, music is the dialogue they choose for themselves, echoing the voices of the great names of French chanson and the melodies of American musicals they begin to learn, haltingly. It is their passion for the stage that brings them together today. And then there is curiosity\u2014the desire to be surprised by the other\u2019s presence in one\u2019s playground; the thrill felt when walking the tightrope of emotions rooted in us since childhood; a reserve that only wants to shatter; the joy of being together again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We know the composer, but do we know the man? Le Papa de Chouchou<\/em> is a dive into the composer\u2019s private world. A monologue built from Debussy\u2019s rich correspondence, interspersed with piano music. In the style of the musical salons of old, Claude Debussy welcomes the audience into his home and speaks to them about his music, the war, his illness and his daughter, while playing his compositions on the piano. The show\u2019s convivial, interactive nature allows the audience to enter Debussy\u2019s private world and discover his universe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
